Good Day my Blogging friends!  Thank you for returning to my blog.   I hope you enjoy seeing my projects as much as I am enjoying making them.

This week our theme is Anything Goes sponsored by A Day for Daisies.  I chose The Boy at the Beach image and used it to create this wonderful tag using a Resist Technique.

  1. First I downloaded my image and printed it on Crafter’s Companion White Ultra Smooth

    Premium Cardstock.

  2. I colored The Boy at the Beach stamp using my Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers.
  3. I cut my tag shape from chipboard and covered it using Gesso.
  4. Once the Gesso is dry, using Versamark ink, I stamp my seashell and sea-star images onto the tag.
  5. Cover the Versamark ink liberally with embossing powder.  In this case I chose very fine black embossing powder.  Clear or white can also be used, or any other color.  I wanted the black color.
  6. Using the heat gun, gently heat the embossing powder until you see it melt.  Tip:  Be careful not to hold the heat gun over any one section too long so you don’t burn your paper or chipboard.  When the embossing powder has melted it will take on a shiny quality.
  7. I selected several Tim Holtz Distress Inks that had a beach feel and inked them onto my craft mat.
  8. I sprayed the ink with my Mini Mister, then placed the tag in the ink, allowing it to pick up the color.
  9. Then, I wiped the ink away from the embossed areas.  The ink resists adhering to the embossed area, allowing the image to show clearly.  This is where the name Resist Technique comes from.

  10. I edged the tag and the cut image with brown chalk ink and adhered the image to the tag.
  11. I punched a hole at the top of the tag and added ribbon, adhering it to the tag.

I hope you enjoy this technique as much as I do!
