Happy Birthday Embossing

I am so glad that you stopped by my blog this week!  I am celebrating my Brother-in-Law’s birthday and I hope you will too.  Using some of my new Hot Off the Press stamps I created this very masculine card.

One of the things I like about this card is it uses both a dry and wet embossing technique. To make this card I did the following:

  1. I cut a light blue cardstock to be a folded 5.5″ x 4.5″.
  2. I cut the patterned paper the same size as the card, 5.5″ x 4.5″ and covered the front of the card.
  3. I cut gold cardstock in a 3″x 3″ square and matted it on a square of red cardstock 3.25″ x 3.25″.
  4. Using a texture plate I dry embossed a 4″ x 4″ square of neutral cardstock.  I then inked the cardstock with brown chalk ink using the Tim Holtz inking tool.
  5. I matted this on a red cardstock square of 4.25″ x 4.25″.
  6. I glued down all of the squares, centering them with one another.
  7. I used my new Hot Off the Press stamps to stamp the sentiment on the birthday card and the image on the gold cardstock.
  8. In both cases I used a wet embossing technique by stamping the image with Versamark ink.  This is a clear ink.  Before the ink can dry, I covered the ink with Black super fine embossing powder.  The powder is then melted using a heat gun.

I hope you like this masculine card.  More importantly, I hope my Brother-In-Law likes it as well, Happy Birthday!
