FFC_132 – Creating Spray Inks

Welcome back crafters!  Thank you for stopping by this week and checking out this week’s Fun Friday Challenge.  This week’s theme is 321, 3 colors, 2 embellishments and 1 technique.  Our sponsor this week is Little Blue Button Stamps.  The image I chose is Happy Charlie.  Here is the tag I created.

Spray Ink Tag

Please note that I gave the image a blue background because it was originally hard to see when scanned against a white background.  To create this tag, I did the following:

1. Print and stamp the image onto Crafter’s Companion White Ultra Smooth Premium Cardstock.
2. Color your images with Alcohol Markers.  I used Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers with the following color combinations:
   1. hair:  GB8, GB10, EB7

   2. purse:  CG2, CG3, CG4
   3. dress:  PP3, BP1, PL1
   4. tights:  alternating pattern of PP3 and BP1
   5. shoes:  TN4
   6. mouth: DR3
   7. flesh:  FS1, FS2, FS5 and FS8 for cheeks
3. I cut a tag 4″ tall by 2″ across.  Then I trimmed the top to square it off.  HINT:  I used a ruler to make the cuts even.  Lastly I punched a hole in the top.
4. I dry embossed the folder using the Sizzex Carnival

5. I have been wanting to create my own spray ink for a long time now.  I filled a mini-mister 2/3 with water and mixed it with a small amount of a pink Pearlescent pigment powder and shake well.
6. I sprayed the tag with my homemade spray and let dry for a few hours.  TIP:  I used extra pieces of cardstock to soak up the extra spray on the mat.  I learned from others not to let these opportunities go to waste.
7. I used a heat gun to be sure my tag was dry.
8. I used several stamps for the Rubber Cafe Boutique Chic set and Momento black ink.
9. Lastly I added bubble gum stickels to the shoe bow.
