Happy Birthday My Friend!

I want to take today to wish my friend a very special Happy Birthday.  She, like many, want to forget the day, push away the number, and not acknowledge the day.  Not me!  I think birthdays are special days to celebrate each other and be grateful for our time here which is so precious.  Here is the card I created.

To create this card I did the following:

1. Cut lavender cardstock 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ side fold
2. Cut a piece of dark purple cardstock 5 1/4″ x 4″ and dry emboss with Sea Glass folder.  Adhere this to the front of the card and Stamp Happy Birthday at the bottom.
3. Cut a piece of white cardstock 3 3/4″ x 4 3/4″
4. On the white cardstock, blend the following distress ink colors:

   Inked & Stamped background

   1. Mustard Seed
   2. Wild Honey
   3. Salty Ocean
   4. Seedless Grape
5. When blending the colors, lay down the lightest color first, and the darkest color last.  Each time, blend the colors with the lighter color.  I used the order above as lightest to darkest.
6. The background is then stamped with 2 different background stamps to create that layered look.  First, using the script background stamp and grey Momento Ink .  On top of that using the twinkle background stamp and periwinkle Momento Ink.
7. Then, I added my image, a lighthouse stamp, using

   black Momento Ink.  The image was too large for the paper, so I just used part of the image.

8. I then matted this on the same lavender cardstock with less than a 1/4″ mat.  This is then adhered towards the top of the card.
9. Inside I stamped a separate birthday stamp along with the message I wrote.
10. On the back, never forget to note how special the card is and who made it.
