Hello and welcome back!  Have you every just had one of those weeks?  Well I did!  This week’s challenge is a color challenge:  Coral, Tan and Aqua.  I used a lot of tan and aqua on the tag (I know it is hard to tell, but the background is a light aqua) and I used coral to for matting and the title.   I am absolutely thrilled with this great tag I created using Scrapper’s Delight’s  Train Spotting digi.

To create this layout I did the following:

The Tag:

  1. Print the image onto Crafter’s Companion White Ultra Smooth Premium Cardstock.
  2. Color the image.  I used Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers and Copics with the following color combinations:

    1. Skin:  FS1, FS2, FS5, FS8
    2. Hat:  E31, E33, E57
    3. Shirt:  CT1, CT3, GB4
    4. Pants:  IB3, BT8, BGR3
    5. Scarf:  YR07, YR09, YR68
    6. Shoes, logs and tree bark:TN4, EB3, EB8
    7. Train:  BGR1, BGR2, BGR3, Black
    8. Smoke:  IG1, IG2, IG3
    9. Tree tops:  JG1, JG2, DG3
    10. I colored the background with BG3
  3. I created my tag the old fashion way; I took a stencil, traced it on cardstock and cut it out with scissors.
  4. Embossed & Resist Techniques

    Embossed & Resist Techniques

Using train themed stamps from the Stampendous Railway set and 7 Gypsies Journey stamp set.  I used black pigment ink to stamp the images.

  5. I covered the pigment ink with fine black embossing powder and embossed the images by heat setting it with my heat embossing tool.
  6. I colored the tag with Tim Holtz Distress Inks using a resist technique.  After applying the colors I wiped off the tag to remove any ink from the embossed images.
  7. Lastly, I found a very textured green ribbon, the texture reminded me of train tracks.  I attached the ribbon using glue dots.
  8. I inked the edge of the tag with brown chalk ink.

To create the layout itself I chose 3 pattern papers and 2 coordinating solids from a travel pack I have.  I wanted to incorporate circles and so I cut one large circle using my brand new large Creative Memories large Circle Cutter.  I am so going to love using this tool!  I cut my circle in half, placing half of the circle on each page, lining them up to show a full circle as shown in the photo.  I cut a slightly larger circle from the blue paper to mat the circle.  Using my smaller Creative Memories Circle Cutters I cropped my photos into circles, matting them on brown and blue.  I used 3/4 coral strips to break up the patterned paper used upper and lower part of the page.  I used the blue and coral combination for the title and mat.  I created the title and mat on my Gazelle using Baby Kruffy font.
